Role of the Facilitators
Participants will register for an assessment frame (Clinical Skills or Work Place Performance) and be assigned to a group of 5-6 persons. A facilitator will be assigned to each small group, with principal responsibility for managing the group’s progress. The role of the facilitator is to guide the participants through the pre-conference workshop, the conference, and the post-conference workshop. Facilitators will have four responsibilities.
-
First, each facilitator will identify the sessions in the program that are most relevant to the group’s assessment frame. During the pre-conference workshop, the facilitator will develop a conference plan with each participant.
-
Second, after each plenary the facilitator will lead a small group session that applies the general concepts from the plenary to the group’s assessment frame. The role of the facilitator is to guide the participants in applying the general assessment concepts to their areas of interest. These should be highly interactive sessions.
-
Third, during the conference, small groups will meet daily over lunch. The facilitator will be responsible for monitoring participants’ reactions to the sessions they have attended, guiding discussion, answering questions, and facilitating the learning that occurs during the conference.
-
Fourth, on the final day of the conference the frame groups will meet for a post-conference meeting to discuss any issues left from the sessions. In addition, they will discuss participants’ projects, clarifying objectives and procedures.
